Tell Your Story

The Spark partners all use our blogs as a creative outlet. It is a place to share the creative work we do. Composing posts exercises our "writer minds". We love, love, love to search out inspiration from other blogs.

Blogging is a relatively new creative venture for many people. It has opened up a whole new world for artisans and crafters.  Inspiration can be found world wide.

This year we decided that blogging needs to be a part of Spark.  So many of us connect though this medium. We are happy to announce that we will be having a blogging panel at Spark 2011! This part of Spark will be called "Tell Your Story". We want to help you develop the kind of blog you have always wanted.

We have some simply amazing bloggers that are excited to be participating.  Our panel will be announced next week so make sure to come by and check it out.

In the meantime, we want to hear what you want to know!  Bring on the blogging questions!  We want to cover a wide variety of topics so don't be shy.  Please send your questions to April at secondsisterjewelry (at) yahoo.com.

And we want to see your blogs!!!  Link up girls!  Let's get to know the Sparksters!

I've been blogging for over 5 years . . . Mostly family stuff, a few projects here and there, and stuff about me. I don't blog with the intention of trying to drawing a large audience, but with the popularity of linking sites (like pinterest) it has gotten out there a bit more. I always say that my blog is one of my "happy places". -- I try not to worry about the readers' judgement, critique, etc. and instead blog just for me. And with that purpose in mind I hope that my true voice comes out. But I do like to write posts that are interesting/entertaining/enjoyable to read. Any tips on that would be helpful!

Love blogging, lately it's been about mostly crafting but need to get back into a wider spectrum :) Thanks for the post, this will be fun to link up with fellow spark sisters.

I'm wanting to know how the heck I can design a button, header, etc? I'm relatively new at blogging as well, and am hoping my blog will attract more people to my business. Thanks for tips!

I'm coming up on my third year of blogging on 6/3 and I struggle with balancing the type of posts I write. To be honest, in real life I go on jags of making paper crafts, then mixed-media, then baking etc. Trying to keep variety on my blog means holding back some crafting posts for my next dry spell and that's sometimes hard to do when you're excited about a project and want to share it.

I also never know how many personal posts or posts about the kids to share. I keep it fairly minimal but some readers want that personal connection and others are turned off by it.

The other one is how to handle DT posts or promotion type posts without sounding like you're trying to sell something. I hope my enthusiasm covers up any "pitch" but I'm never sure.

Balance... it's always a tough one.

What a fun class to take!! I've learned SO much doing the blog for Roberts Crafts, and my own blog. I'm sure there's TONS I can still learn!

Can't wait!!

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to attend Spark this year!! I enjoy blogging but am teaching so many classes that only a partial amount of my work ends up on it. I really need to be more diligent about it. I enjoy searching out fabulous blogs too. I feel like I'm on a treasure hunt finding peoples work that they've put so much time into. There are some dynamic women out there creating such fun stuff!!
Life is amazing, Amy

Yeah! I finally blogged today! I am going to get back into it. I love blogging and am finally past the "neurotic check how many comments I have" stage.

I've been behind lately for reasons you will see on my blog. I need help designing blog headers as well. I would love to learn more photoshop elememts techniques. I love how easy it has become to design stuff on there. :)
